North Carolina women's soccer defeats Virginia 3-1

No. 1 ranked North Carolina women’s soccer defeated No. 16 Virginia 3-1 in Charlottesville. The Tar Heels secured the victory through a dominant first-half performance, scoring three goals in a three-minute span.

Sophomore forward Bella Devey led the offense with two goals, scoring in the 9th and 10th minutes. Summer Denigan added a third goal via a penalty kick in the 12th minute following a handball. Virginia managed to score a single goal in the 57th minute through an Addison Halpern penalty kick.

With this win, North Carolina extends its winning streak to seven games and moves to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in ACC play, placing them alone at the top of the conference standings.
