Dukhan Bank becomes first Qatari Islamic bank on J.P. Morgan's Kinexys blockchain network

On August 3 2026, Dukhan Bank, one of Qatar’s leading Sharia‑compliant lenders, joined J.P. Morgan’s Kinexys Blockchain Deposit Account network. The move makes Dukhan the first Islamic bank in Qatar to operate on the platform, giving its corporate and institutional clients 24/7 cross‑border settlement and tokenised cash deposits.

Kinexys, built on J.P. Morgan’s Onyx infrastructure, converts client cash into blockchain tokens and settles transactions almost instantly within a regulated banking system. By June 2026 the network had processed more than $4 trillion in cumulative transactions and was clearing over $7 billion daily across eight currencies, including the Australian, Hong Kong, Japanese, Chinese and Singapore dollars.

Dukhan Bank’s acting Group CEO Ahmed I. Hashem said the adoption strengthens speed, transparency and efficiency while meeting Sharia‑compliance requirements, positioning the bank at the forefront of digital payments in the Gulf region.
