Former Serbian footballer Duško Tošić was born in the small village of Orlovat, beside the Tamiš River. Neighbors recall that his family lived in poverty; his father Mile worked as a laborer on the railway. At ten years old, Tošić carried a backpack and walked daily to Zrenjanin to attend football training, a journey described by an elder villager as "stopiranje". His godmother Rada and her son accompanied him to the trainings, and the community says he remained modest despite later fame and wealth. Today he lives in Orlovat, having rebuilt his property, added a house with a pool, and continues to help the local school and villagers.
The testimonies emphasise his enduring connection to his roots and his ongoing support for the community, underscoring a life that, according to locals, has never strayed far from the boy who once trekked to training.
