Dumbbell routines for efficient full-body muscle growth

Effective muscle building can be achieved through short, high-intensity dumbbell routines focusing on compound movements. According to Harvard physiotherapist Vijay Daryanani, workouts should target both the upper and lower body to maximize efficiency, even in sessions lasting only 10 minutes.

To promote hypertrophy, it is recommended to use challenging weights that allow for 10 to 12 repetitions without compromising form. A suggested routine involves three rounds of compound exercises with 30 to 45 seconds of rest between them.

Alternative training methods include the AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) format. One such 8-minute routine proposed by trainer Craig Richey utilizes a descending ladder of six movements: air squats, push-ups, dumbbell deadlifts, hang cleans, push presses, and devil presses. This structure is designed to protect technique as fatigue increases by reducing the number of repetitions for more demanding movements as the workout progresses.
