Dumenza mourns Flavio Ranzoni and Imelda Casonato in community funeral

Hundreds gathered at San Giorgio church in the Dumenza hamlet of Runo to bid farewell to Flavio Ranzoni, 84, and Imelda Casonato, 77. The couple were victims of a murder‑suicide that occurred on 25 July at the Le Terrazze health facility in Cunardo. The funeral was marked by a solemn homily from Don Gabriele Ferrari, who urged attendees to look beyond the tragedy toward hope and faith. Rather than flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Luca Coscioni Association, which advocates for scientific research and end‑of‑life choices.

The ceremony reflected the deep shock felt across the local community, with many residents expressing grief and solidarity for the couple, who had shared more than six decades together.
