Duna Művészegyüttes debuts new production on Roma culture

The Duna Művészegyüttes, in collaboration with the Göncöl Zenekar, has launched a new production titled ‘Cigányok arca – Romengi faca’ (The Face of Gypsies). The performance aims to showcase the diverse cultural heritage of Roma communities across the Carpathian Basin.

Rather than presenting a single, unified folklore, the production highlights the distinct traditions of various regions, including Upper Tisza, Mezőföld, Somogy, and Transylvania. The performance utilizes archaic dances, music, poetry, and visual arts to convey the complexity of these communities. Key contributors to the production include director Juhász Zsolt and choreographers Farkas Tamás, Fundák Kristóf, and Juhász Zsolt, with performances by Franciska Farkas, István Szilvási, Pákó Horváth, and Dominik Balogh.
