Dunakeszi mourns death of winemaker Guttmann Vilmos, city’s sole vintner
On Saturday, the community of Dunakeszi held a funeral for Guttmann Vilmos, the town’s only winegrower and founder of the Guttmann Wine House. The ceremony took place in the St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, where Dr. László Farkas, the parish priest, praised Vilmos’s lifelong dedication to viticulture, his cultural contributions, and his personal generosity. Attendees included family, friends, former colleagues, city officials and members of the parish, all recalling his eight‑decade career that spanned from planting vines to producing and selling his own wines. Mayor Csaba Dióssi posted a tribute noting Vilmos’s role as a beloved local personality and his embodiment of a life devoted to the grape and the community. The funeral highlighted Vilmos’s reputation as a skilled horticulturist‑engineer turned vintner, whose vineyards extended from Dunakeszi to the nearby Vaci Törökhegy and forests of Erdőkerti.
