Dunamu and Visa partner on stablecoin payments and AI

Dunamu, the operator of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, has entered a strategic partnership with Visa to develop next-generation financial services. The collaboration, unveiled in San Francisco, aims to combine Dunamu’s digital asset technology with Visa’s global payment network.

The partnership focuses on three primary areas: stablecoin-based payments, cross-border remittances, and AI-driven financial services. The companies are exploring how to integrate stablecoins into existing payment and settlement infrastructures to facilitate faster, more efficient global transfers. They are also evaluating business models involving Open USD (OUSD), an open-standard stablecoin.

A significant component of the roadmap involves AI-enabled ‘agentic commerce,’ where AI agents act on behalf of users to search for, purchase, and pay for goods and services. While the companies have established a roadmap, specific product structures, launch dates, and target markets have not yet been finalized. The development will proceed in stages, prioritizing stability, transparency, interoperability, and regulatory compliance.
