Duncan Ferguson appointed Glentoran manager

Duncan Ferguson has been appointed as the new manager of Glentoran, the Belfast-based club in the Northern Ireland Football League Premiership. The former Everton and Rangers striker returns to football management on a multi-year contract following his departure from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2024.

Ferguson will be joined by Gary Bollan as assistant manager. His appointment follows the departure of Declan Devine by mutual consent. Ferguson expressed his ambition to end the club’s silverware drought, stating, “I want to win trophies here. Glentoran should be challenging for the title and every cup and shield we enter.”

While Ferguson brings significant Premier League pedigree from his playing career and coaching stints at Everton, his previous permanent managerial roles at Forest Green Rovers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle both resulted in relegation. Glentoran, owned by Ali Pour, currently sits third in the league standings following an interim period led by Tim McCann and Paddy McCourt.
