Duncan Jones completes 20-year Rogue Trooper film project
Director Duncan Jones has completed his 20-year effort to adapt the 2000 AD comic strip ‘Rogue Trooper’ into a film. The project, which took over four years to produce, utilized a combination of modern technologies including Unreal Engine, Maya, hand animation, and virtual production tools like ‘The Volume’.
Jones noted that while the production initially relied on Unreal Engine, the team had to integrate other tools like Maya to achieve a cinematic quality. The film recently had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, following its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Jones is currently seeking a theatrical distributor to secure a cinema run before the film moves to streaming services.
