Dundalk FC defeats Castlebar Celtic 8-0 in FAI Cup
Dundalk FC advanced to the FAI Cup quarter-finals following a dominant 8-0 victory over Castlebar Celtic at Oriel Park. The match was characterized by a significant disparity in performance, with Dundalk recording 43 shots compared to zero from their opponents.
Cian Dillon opened the scoring with a penalty in the ninth minute, followed by a goal from Bobby Burns shortly after. Other scorers included Luke Mulligan, who netted twice, Leo Gaxha, Aaron Keogh, and Danny Mullen. Despite the commanding win, Dundalk was forced to finish the match with ten men after Mullen suffered an injury during his goal in the 80th minute.
