Dundalk FC defeats Drogheda United in Louth derby thriller
Dundalk FC secured a 3-2 victory over Drogheda United in the fourth Louth derby of the season at Sullivan & Lambe Park. The match was decided in the 89th minute when Daryl Horgan scored a dramatic free-kick to clinch the win for the visitors.
Dundalk took an early lead through Cian Dillon, who scored his first Premier Division goal following an error by Edwin Agbaje. However, Drogheda United responded with two quick goals before halftime, courtesy of Keegan Ancelin and Brandon Kavanagh, to take a 2-1 lead.
Drogheda leveled the score in the second half through Ronan Teahan, assisted by Tom Grivosti. The match remained tied until Horgan’s late strike. With this result, Dundalk remains 12 points clear of the relegation play-off position, while Drogheda United sits five points ahead of Sligo Rovers.
