Dundalk FC secures top-flight status with late draw against Sligo Rovers

Dundalk FC secured their place in the top flight for the 2027 season following a 1-1 draw against Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds. Ronan Teahan scored a 90th-minute equalizer to salvage a point for the visitors.

Sligo Rovers took an early lead in the second half when Kaiyne Woolery scored with a header from a Seán Stewart cross. Despite Dundalk dominating much of the first half and earning numerous corners, they struggled to convert their possession into goals until the final minutes. Teahan’s goal followed an interception by Declan McDaid, trickling past goalkeeper Liam Hughes.

The result moves Ciarán Kilduff’s Dundalk side back into fifth place in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division. While Sligo Rovers have already been relegated, the match was played for pride under manager Darren Purse.
