Dundo: Congolese national detained for theft of electoral equipment
The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Lunda Norte province has detained a 33-year-old Congolese national accused of orchestrating a theft at the Single Public Service Desk (BUAP) in Dundo. The incident, which occurred on August 16, involved the theft of a computer, a printer, and a charger—equipment essential for citizen data updates and electoral registration processes.
Police reports indicate the perpetrator bypassed security by entering through the rear of the building. Following an investigation, officers located the stolen equipment in the Caimbuanda neighborhood. A 16-year-old minor confessed to carrying out the robbery after being promised 20,000 Kwanzas by the suspect, who was using a false identity.
The accused is currently in preventive detention awaiting trial at the Chitato District Court for qualified theft under the Angolan Penal Code.
