Dune: Part Three reported to have shorter runtime than previous films

Reports suggest that Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” may have a shorter runtime than the previous installments in the franchise. Industry insiders indicate the film could run between 140 and 145 minutes, which is notably less than the 155 minutes of the first film and 166 minutes of the second.

Some observers note that a shorter runtime aligns with the source material, as the novel “Dune Messiah” is the shortest book in Frank Herbert’s series. The film is expected to take place seventeen years after the previous installment, focusing on Paul Atreides as Emperor and the evolving dynamics between his characters.

Director Denis Villeneuve has described the project as his “most personal film,” noting it will lean more into the thriller genre with increased action. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 18th.
