Dunhuang and Gaoyu Technology partner on low-altitude tourism hub

The Dunhuang Municipal People's Government and Guangdong Gaoyu Technology Co., Ltd. have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop a demonstration project for a low-altitude transportation and tourism integration hub. The project aims to combine Dunhuang’s world-class cultural tourism resources with Gaoyu Technology’s innovation in low-altitude travel, specifically utilizing the GOVYAirCab series of passenger flying cars developed through the GAC Group industrial chain.

The initiative will proceed in three stages: initial brand promotion using the “Flying Silk Road” IP, pilot operations to expand low-altitude tourism services, and finally, the establishment of a comprehensive low-altitude transport network for scenic areas. During the signing ceremony, the GOVYAirCab completed its first public flight demonstration in Dunhuang.

While the project represents a significant step in ground-level scene verification for the low-altitude economy, industry analysts note challenges regarding the broader sector. Despite successful tourism flight data in Dunhuang and the commercial progress of companies like EHang, the industry faces hurdles including complex airspace management, regulatory approval processes, and the economic volatility of tourism-dependent models.
