Dunlop Tyres completes R1.7 billion investment in South Africa

Dunlop Tyres South Africa has completed a R1.7 billion investment programme at its uMnambithi manufacturing facility in Ladysmith. The three-year project, backed by parent company Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan, introduces advanced manufacturing technologies to the plant.

The investment expands production capabilities for passenger, SUV, and light truck tyres to meet rising demand in South Africa and across African export markets. The facility is now equipped to produce new-generation low rolling resistance tyres, supporting future vehicle emissions, efficiency, and sustainability requirements. This expansion aims to strengthen Dunlop’s position as an Original Equipment (OE) supplier and reinforce South Africa’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
