Duolingo updates app to fix accidental speaking exercise lockout

Duolingo is introducing an update to address a long-standing user frustration regarding its speaking exercises. Previously, users could accidentally tap the ‘I can’t listen now’ button located near the confirmation button. This accidental tap would disable speaking practice for 15 minutes without a confirmation prompt, often disrupting short learning sessions.

The new update introduces a mechanism to prevent this issue. When a user selects the option to disable listening, a confirmation message will now appear, allowing them to undo the decision if it was made by mistake.

The rollout is being conducted gradually to monitor stability and community feedback. Consequently, some users may not see the change immediately as the feature is deployed in stages.
