Dupilumab shows efficacy in pediatric dermatitis and urticaria
New clinical data indicates that dupilumab is effective in treating both pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) and chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU).
A multicenter prospective cohort study in the Netherlands involving 309 children found that dupilumab maintained long-term effectiveness and safety for moderate to severe AD over three years. The study reported an 80.1% drug survival rate, though outcomes varied by age group. The most frequent adverse event noted was dupilumab-associated ocular surface disease, affecting 36.6% of patients.
In a separate pooled analysis of the phase 3 LIBERTY-CSU CUPID trials, dupilumab demonstrated improvements in disease-specific quality of life for individuals with omalizumab-naive CSU. Patients who had not responded to H1 antihistamines showed significant improvements in overall CU-Q2oL scores and 22 of 23 specific items compared to a placebo at the 24-week mark. These findings were presented at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Congress.
