Dupnitsa identifies vandals responsible for Rila Park public toilet vandalism

The Dupnitsa Prosecutor's Office opened a pre‑trial investigation after a public‑toilet facility in Rila Park was deliberately damaged. The vandalism left a ceramic wall and other fixtures broken just two days after the park’s restrooms had been repaired.

The municipality announced that two individuals were identified through the actions of park security guards and police. All documentation and evidence have been handed over to the Bulgarian police for further legal action. The municipality emphasised that repair costs will be covered by taxpayers and reiterated its commitment to invest in the upkeep and protection of public spaces.

Despite the identification of the perpetrators, local residents questioned the effectiveness of the park’s physical security, which is provided under a contract worth €285,376 (excluding VAT). The municipality responded that the security measures did lead to the identification of the vandals, but it will continue to review preventive measures.
