Duque de Caxias: Firefighter and medical student murdered

A 24-year-old firefighter, Pedro Ernesto dos Anjos Rodrigues, and his 26-year-old boyfriend, medical student Pedro Henrique Araújo, were murdered in the Pantanal neighborhood of Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro.

According to family members, the couple realized they were being followed while returning from a relative's home. They attempted to evade their pursuers by driving through nearby streets, and Pedro Henrique reportedly made a phone call to a relative to report they were being followed before the connection was lost.

Security camera footage captured the moment the victims were intercepted and one was moved into the suspects' vehicle. The bodies were later discovered in a wooded area near the Sossego and Cacareco communities, surrounded by spent shell casings. Investigators recovered the firefighter's service pistol, containing 15 rounds, from under the seat of the victims' car. The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro are currently investigating the homicide.
