Duque de Caxias implements new safety, health, and animal welfare measures
The municipality of Duque de Caxias is implementing several public service initiatives across health, safety, and animal welfare sectors.
In public safety, the city has deployed the Força Municipal, an armed division of the Municipal Civil Guard, to increase patrolling in various neighborhoods. Additionally, 30 physical blockers have been installed on 15 pedestrian walkways to prevent the illegal circulation of motorcycles, aiming to protect pedestrians and deter criminal activity.
Regarding healthcare, the Hospital Infantil Ismélia da Silveira is celebrating 56 years of service as a regional pediatric reference. The city also operates the first pediatric UPA in the country, providing 24-hour emergency care.
For animal welfare, the Municipal Secretariat of Animal Protection is offering free services, including rabies vaccinations, microchipping, and sterilization. The city's Veterinary Hospital provides 24/7 care, and mobile units (Castramóveis) circulate through the four districts to provide itinerant services.
