Shillong Lajong FC tops Group E with 5-0 win over Mumbay FC

Shillong Lajong FC claimed the top spot in Group E of the 135th Durand Cup following a dominant 5-0 victory over Mumbay FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. After a competitive first half, the match shifted in the 45th minute when Mumbay captain Ahmed Faiz Khan was stretchered off with an ankle injury.

Lajong capitalized on the momentum, scoring twice just before halftime through Abhay Gurung and Tremiki Lamurong. Everbrightson Sana led the scoring with a brace in the second half, while Figo Syndai added the fifth goal. The win brings Shillong Lajong to six points from two matches.

In the same tournament, Langsning FC has also made a notable debut, recording a 5-0 win against Mumbay FC and securing a 2-2 comeback draw against local rivals Nongkseh SS&CC.
