Durango and Villanueva de la Torre Launch Local Funding Initiatives for Entrepreneurs and Job Seekers

The municipal council of Durango (Spain) approved a €80,000 grant scheme to back 26 new entrepreneurial projects, selecting 26 of the 29 applications received. Grants can cover up to 60% of investment costs, with most projects receiving the maximum amount. Councilor Jesica Ruiz highlighted the program’s aim to foster business creation, support project consolidation and stimulate the local economy.

In Villanueva de la Torre, the town opened a call to recruit 11 unemployed residents under the 2026 Active Employment Support Plan. The program is co‑financed by the Castilla‑La Mancha regional government and the European Social Fund Plus. Positions are full‑time, 180‑day contracts for public‑service maintenance work, with quotas reserving spots for vulnerable groups, including women victims of gender‑based violence and people in social exclusion.

Both initiatives reflect Spanish local authorities’ efforts to boost entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment through targeted public funding.
