Durango approves 965,000 euro renovation for Kapitanena facility
The Durango City Council has approved the execution project for Kapitanena 2, a renovation and expansion of the Kapitanena community facility. Developed in collaboration with the local neighborhood association, the project involves an estimated investment of 965,000 euros.
The plan includes adding a single-story annex to the existing building to ensure universal accessibility by concentrating all services on the ground floor. This new module will be aligned with the main roof and positioned to shield the area from the adjacent road, enhancing safety near the recently installed children's playground.
Key features of the upgraded facility include: - A new 88.19 square meter multipurpose hall for workshops and events. - Dedicated study and meeting rooms, including an independent reading room. - Existing amenities such as meeting rooms, restrooms, and storage.
Tendering for the works is expected to begin in the coming weeks. If administrative timelines are met, construction is aimed to start by the end of 2026, with an estimated execution period of 12 months.
