Durazno expands university offerings with new degree programs

The Government of Durazno, the University of the Republic (Udelar), and the National Sports Secretariat have signed cooperation agreements to expand university education opportunities in the department.

Key developments include the implementation of two technical degrees in sports through the Higher Institute of Physical Education (ISEF), focusing on Artistic Gymnastics and Triathlon, alongside lifeguard training. Additionally, a new agreement with the Faculty of Veterinary Science will foster academic, scientific, and technical cooperation, specifically targeting animal welfare, biodiversity, and research.

Durazno Intendant Felipe Algorta Brít announced that the local government will provide economic contributions over a three-year plan to support the new sports programs. Udelar Rector Héctor Cancela described the agreements as a milestone in building educational opportunities across the national territory through collaboration between the university, local governments, and the national government.
