Durazno sports venues host cycling and tejo competitions

The Parque de la Hispanidad in Durazno, Uruguay, has hosted and will host significant sporting events. Recently, the venue held the Opening Criterium of the Uruguayan Cycling Federation (FCU), which drew over 300 competitors across various categories, including Elite, Sub 23, Junior, Women, and several Master divisions.

Leonel Rodríguez secured first place in the Elite and Sub 23 categories, while Juan Etchebarne won the Sub 23 division. The event also included tributes to local cycling figures Oscar Chiribao and Mario Gabino Muñoz.

Looking ahead, the park is scheduled to host the National Tejo Championship on September 19, 2026. This tournament is part of the fifth stage of the Uruguay Tejo Tour 2026, organized by the Los Carozos Tejo group with support from the Uruguayan Tejo Association (AUT). The competition will feature male and female individual categories for participants both under and over 70 years of age.
