Durban High Court begins trial for AKA and Tibz murders

The murder trial for the killings of musician Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (known as AKA) and Tebello Motsoane (known as Tibz) has commenced at the Durban High Court. The proceedings follow a shooting on February 10, 2023, outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, where investigators believe Forbes was the primary target and Motsoane was caught in the crossfire.

Seven individuals—Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, Lindokuhle Ndimande, Siyabonga Ndimande, and Malusi Ndimande—face multiple charges. These include two counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and various firearm-related offenses. All seven accused remain in custody.

The investigation involved significant cross-border cooperation, leading to the arrest and extradition of brothers Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande from Eswatini. During the trial, the State is expected to call approximately 45 witnesses to present evidence regarding the planning and execution of the murders.
