Durban political parties intensify campaigns for local elections

Political parties are ramping up their final campaign efforts in Durban ahead of the local government elections scheduled for November 4.

The uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) is mobilizing support through community rallies in areas such as KwaXimba and uMlazi. Party leaders, including Deputy President Duduzane Zuma and Apostle Mxolisi Phakathi, are engaging directly with voters to solidify their base under the slogan ‘Sithatha Omasipala’.

Simultaneously, the Democratic Alliance (DA) is making a final push for votes in the eThekwini metro. DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has characterized the upcoming contest as a two-party race between the DA and the MKP. The DA is campaigning on platforms of improved municipal services and accountable government, while criticizing the African National Congress (ANC) and warning against the potential leadership of the MKP.
