Durga Puja festivities conclude with idol immersions in Silchar and Kolkata

The Durga Puja festivities concluded on Wednesday, October 21, as devotees in Silchar and Kolkata performed ceremonial idol immersions to bid farewell to Goddess Durga.

In Silchar, celebrations included the traditional 'sindoor khela', where women smeared vermilion on one another. The immersion process at Sadarghat began early in the morning under tight security arrangements involving the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das reported that the festivities passed peacefully due to cooperation between residents and puja committees.

In Kolkata, West Bengal, devotees transported illuminated and decorated idols to various immersion sites, marking the end of the multi-day religious celebrations.
