Durga Puja traditions highlight regional heritage and family roots in India

Durga Puja celebrations in India feature diverse regional histories and traditions across several states. In West Bengal, the festival dates back to 997 AD, while celebrations in Odisha began in the 11th century. In Tripura, the tradition is approximately 500 years old, and in Assam, royally-sponsored celebrations were credited to Ahom King Rudra Singha, with some local traditions in the Dhubri district lasting over 400 years.

In conjunction with the festive season, Birla Opus Paints has released a new film centered on the theme of family roots and cultural belonging during Durga Pujo. The campaign, conceptualized by Leo India, focuses on the emotional connection between generations and the role of home and tradition in creating lasting memories.
