Durham boy killed in bicycle accident

A 9-year-old boy, Keegan Brooks, was killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Durham, North Carolina. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon shortly before 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of Knightwood Drive and Bengel Drive.

Brooks, a fourth grader at Oak Grove Elementary School, had left his home to ride bikes with a friend before attending baseball practice. His mother, Courtney Brooks, stated that her son's friend alerted the family to the accident by running to the house screaming.

Family members gathered to remember the boy, describing him as a loving and humorous individual. The Durham Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
