Durham law enforcement conducts arrests and expands regional presence

Law enforcement agencies in Durham, North Carolina, have taken significant actions to address crime and service demands in the region. The Durham Police Department executed a search warrant in the 10th block of Moore Place, resulting in the arrest of several individuals, including Kaleon Pruden, Sherod Thomas, Tiffany Tapp, and Markel Howell. The suspects face various charges, including felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession of a machine gun, and possession of stolen firearms. Authorities seized 14 firearms, some of which were reported stolen or modified, along with ammunition and narcotics.

In response to regional growth, the Durham County Sheriff's Office has opened a new annex in Research Triangle Park (RTP). The facility is intended to improve response times and increase visibility in the area, which is experiencing rapid population and business expansion. The annex will provide dedicated deputies to the RTP district and offer public services such as fingerprinting and records requests, while also serving as a base for criminal investigations and patrol operations.
