Durian prices in Vietnam fluctuate across regions and varieties

Durian prices in Vietnam are showing significant variation across different regions and varieties as of September 13, 2026. In the Central Highlands, VIP Thai durian has reached prices of up to 95,000 VND/kg. Other varieties such as Ri6 and Musang King also see varying rates depending on quality grades (A, B, or C) across the Southwest, Southeast, and Central Highlands regions.

In Ho Chi Minh City, street vendors are offering low-cost options, with some Thai durian being sold for as little as 20,000 VND/kg. These cheaper batches, often sourced from Dak Lak, typically consist of lower-quality or misshapen fruit, requiring buyers to select carefully.

Vietnam's durian industry faces increasing international competition from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. The sector is a high-value export industry, with a projected national cultivation area of approximately 200,000 hectares and an expected production of 2.08 million tons in 2026.
