Durlach infrastructure works to trigger VBK transit changes
The Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe (VBK) will begin a new phase of infrastructure modernization in Durlach on September 21. These works include renewing the track triangle at ‘Stachus’ in the Durlacher Allee, Pfinztalstraße, and Ernst-Friedrich-Straße area, with completion expected by late November.
Additional maintenance is scheduled for the Wolfartsweier turning loop, involving track replacements, and work near the Schlossplatz stop. Consequently, the VBK is adjusting its line network concept. Tram line 1 will terminate at Durlach station and return toward Karlsruhe city center, while tram line 5 will only operate as far as the Tullastraße/Alter Schlachthof stop between September 21 and November 23.
While some previous construction along the B3 and near Zunftstraße will conclude this week, Pfinztalstraße remains closed to rail traffic.
