Durrës authorities seize €1.2M in cannabis from Canada; arrest made in Corfu abuse case

Authorities in Durrës, Albania, have seized approximately 107.7 kilograms of cannabis sativa, specifically the ‘Gelato’ variety, at the Port of Durrës. The drugs were discovered hidden within the modified, wood-covered compartments of a camper van inside a container arriving from Canada. The estimated market value of the narcotics is 1.2 million euros. Police also confiscated 43 electronic cigarettes, some labeled with high THC content. Two individuals are currently wanted for questioning regarding the trafficking operation.

In a separate incident in Corfu, Greece, a 51-year-old Albanian national has been arrested following allegations of sexual abuse against his 8-year-old granddaughter. The abuse was discovered during a medical examination where a doctor noted suspicious signs and alerted the child's mother. The suspect has denied the allegations, and authorities are continuing investigations to determine the duration and circumstances of the suspected abuse.
