Dusmet Prize 2026 to showcase AI in healthcare in Catania
The Giuseppe Benedetto Dusmet Foundation will host the second edition of the Dusmet Prize – Life Science and Artificial Intelligence on Wednesday, October 28, at the Le Ciminiere exhibition center in Catania. Held within the framework of Expomedicina, the event will feature twelve innovative projects designed to integrate algorithmic systems into practical healthcare tools for hospital and territorial assistance.
Candidates will be evaluated based on scientific rigor, technological content, sustainability, replicability, and their potential impact on the quality of life for vulnerable patients. The competition aims to bridge the gap between digital innovation and social utility, ensuring that advanced algorithms adhere to strict ethical standards.
The event will also include institutional discussions regarding European STEP programming and initiatives by the Sicilian Region to support strategic technologies and digital transition. A featured session will address the relationship between bioethics, algorithms, and human dignity, featuring contributions from Don Andrea Ciucci of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
