Dustin Poirier loses sponsor and apologizes after Atlanta airport arrest

UFC lightweight legend Dustin Poirier was arrested at an Atlanta-area airport on Father's Day after becoming publicly intoxicated and threatening a police officer and airport staff. Body‑cam footage of the incident was released, and Poirier now faces up to one year in jail if convicted. In the aftermath, a sponsor dropped him and he expressed uncertainty about continuing his role as a television analyst for UFC on Paramount+.

Poirier posted an apology on Instagram, acknowledging his alcohol problem and saying he is "working on myself" and grateful for fan support. He also discussed his struggle with depression since retiring from competition last year.

Fellow UFC fighter Sean Strickland initially attacked Poirier on social media, calling him a "selfish piece of shit" and accusing him of using a PR cleanup. After speaking directly with Poirier, Strickland issued a public apology, describing Poirier as "legitimately messed up" and hoping the sponsor would do the right thing.
