Dustin Rhodes apologizes for social media engagement with Islamophobic post

Professional wrestler Dustin Rhodes has issued an apology following controversy on social media after he engaged with a post containing Islamophobic and transphobic content. Rhodes had responded to a photo of an armed woman with heart and rock-on emojis; however, the post included a caption challenging Islam.

Mustafa Ali, a Muslim wrestler, expressed his disappointment in Rhodes, noting the respect he held for Rhodes and his family. Rhodes subsequently deleted his reaction and apologized to both Ali and the public. He explained that he had not read the caption and was only reacting to the firearm pictured in the post. Rhodes stated, “I am not that person,” and emphasized that he is not a racist and has supported trans rights in the past.

Rhodes also expressed frustration with the platform X, suggesting he may move his social media presence to Instagram and Threads to avoid such interactions.
