Dutch cabinet Jetten sees modest rise in public support, D66 gains seats

Ipsos I&O polling shows the public’s satisfaction with the Dutch cabinet led by Prime Minister Rob Jetten increasing from 19% in June to 26% after five months in office, though 63% of respondents remain dissatisfied. The slight improvement is linked to the cabinet’s progress on nitrogen‑reduction policies and its firm stance on asylum legislation.

Support among D66 voters is especially high, with 77% expressing satisfaction, and the party’s projected seat count rises from 20 to 23, closing in on the leading opposition party PRO, which holds 24 seats. The VVD remains steady at 20 seats, while the CDA sees its satisfaction rise from 40% to 57%.

The poll also notes modest gains for right‑wing parties JA21 and the PVV, though their overall trust in the cabinet stays low. Overall, the data suggests a tentative trend‑break in the cabinet’s popularity, driven primarily by its environmental and immigration policies.
