Dutch Café at Brazil's Agroleite 2026 Expands Space, Serves 2,000 Visitors

The traditional Dutch Café, a long‑standing attraction of the Agroleite agricultural fair in Castro, Brazil, opened a larger venue behind the fair’s main headquarters for the 2026 edition. In the first two days the expanded space accommodated roughly 2,000 visitors, offering Dutch‑style pastries, breads and coffee prepared by local suppliers descended from the Castrolanda colony.

All revenue generated is donated to charitable entities in Castro, and the operation is run entirely by a volunteer team of about 40 women. Henriette Morsink, a member of the café’s organizing committee, said the project continues its original mission while adapting to growing demand. The café also receives support from the Cooperativa Castrolanda, which provides UHT milk and the traditional Chocolade brand.

The initiative, which began in the 1980s during the former Expocastrolanda, remains a key social and cultural feature of the fair, linking the region’s Dutch heritage with community fundraising.
