NAZA documentary screenings postponed around October 7 following threats

Cinemas across the Netherlands and Greece have agreed to postpone screenings of the award-winning Gaza documentary ‘NAZA’ around October 7. The decision follows a request from directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor to show respect for the victims of the 2023 Hamas attacks.

Distributors in the Netherlands and Greece reported that the postponement also stems from threats made against the filmmakers and their families. The documentary, which received a major award at the Venice Film Festival, features interviews with 24 Israeli soldiers and intelligence officials regarding military targeting in Gaza.

While the film has seen significant commercial success, drawing over 16,000 viewers in the Netherlands alone, it has drawn intense criticism from the Israeli government. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened the directors with prosecution for libel and the potential loss of citizenship, while the Israeli military has questioned the validity of the interviews provided in the film.
