Dutch collective action filed against Odido over data breach affecting six million residents

The privacy foundation Consumers United in Court (CUIC) has started a collective action against telecom provider Odido in the Netherlands after a data breach exposed the personal data of more than six million Dutch residents. The action was initiated on Monday.

CUIC says Odido was negligent in multiple aspects and seeks compensation for all individuals whose data has been exposed. The breach came to light in early 2026, and CUIC frames the case as a serious failure in data protection by the company."

Odido, the subject of the suit, is a telecom provider implicated in a large-scale privacy incident. The filing highlights concerns over data security and corporate responsibility, with CUIC asking for redress for those affected by the leak.
