Dutch community initiatives launch charity challenge and youth awards

The Helen Dowling Foundation has launched the ‘De Nachthelden Challenge’, running from November 1 to 10. Children in the Bilthoven, Arnhem, and Nijmegen regions are encouraged to sleep in tents for one or more nights to raise funds through sponsorship. The proceeds will support the Helen Dowling Instituut (HDI), which provides specialized psychological care for cancer patients and their families. The funds are intended for projects not covered by regular financing, such as new therapies, scientific research, and professional training.

In Hoeksche Waard, nominations are open until Friday, October 2, for the second annual ‘Jeugdlintje Hoeksche Waard’. This award recognizes children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 who demonstrate selfless commitment to society through volunteer work or community service. The municipality evaluates nominees based on the uniqueness and social impact of their efforts. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 24 in Oud-Beijerland.
