Dutch couples celebrate 60th wedding anniversaries

Two couples in the Netherlands are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversaries, marking 60 years of marriage.

In Papendrecht, Trijntje and Barend van de Weerd were visited by Mayor Margreet van Driel to congratulate them on the milestone. The couple first met over 63 years ago at a dance club, where Barend was impressed by Trijntje’s dancing skills. They continue to enjoy an active life together, often traveling in their caravan.

In Oud-Beijerland, A. Wiendels and A. H. Wiendels-van der Munnik celebrated their 60th anniversary on August 26. Local alderman Hein Verbiest visited the couple on behalf of the municipal government to present them with flowers. The couple, who met at a dance event where Mr. Wiendels worked as a technician, have lived in Oud-Beijerland for 27 years.
