Dutch film 'Champagne – Uma Viagem de Pai e Filho' opens in Brazil

The Dutch comedy‑drama "Champagne – Uma Viagem de Pai e Filho" directed by Tim Kamps and starring Leo Alkemade (who also wrote the script) alongside Huub Stapel premiered in Brazilian cinemas on Thursday, 6 August 2026. The story follows Maarten, whose father Hans receives a terminal diagnosis, prompting a final road trip together to the Champagne region of France. The screenplay draws on Alkemade’s own experience of planning, but not completing, a similar journey with his father before the elder’s death. The film, one of the Netherlands’ biggest box‑office hits of 2026, runs about 90 minutes and is distributed in Brazil by Autoral Filmes, with screenings in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Florianópolis and Vitória during the week of Father’s Day.
