Dutch firms embrace AI agents to redesign operations across sectors

Wouter Huygen, CEO of Amsterdam‑based AI consultancy Rewire, argues that using AI agents merely to replace human workers limits the technology’s potential. He cites recent moves by Salesforce and Lufthansa to cut thousands of jobs with AI‑driven customer‑service agents, warning that true productivity gains come from redesigning processes around AI rather than fitting AI into existing silos.

In line with this view, Utrecht‑based technology partner Incentro is shifting its entire service offering to “agentic AI”. The company promotes an “autonomous enterprise” model where AI agents independently handle tasks such as order processing, customer service and quotation generation, using tools like Workato, Camunda and LangChain. Incentro aims to help organisations build manageable AI ecosystems and gain a competitive edge.

Other Dutch firms are also integrating AI, with IT services provider Conclusion winning a €3.5 million tender to create a regional health‑data platform, the nation’s printed‑circuit‑board industry exploring AI‑driven manufacturing for defence and medical markets, Snap unveiling an AR‑glass with AI capabilities, and Rabobank rolling out a revamped app for hyper‑personalised banking. All these developments illustrate a broader trend of Dutch companies re‑thinking their operations around AI technologies.
