Dutch football clubs celebrate Referee Week

Football clubs MSV’71 and S.K.N.W.K. are participating in the ‘Week van de Scheidsrechter’ (Referee Week), which runs from October 3 to October 11, 2026. The initiative aims to honor volunteer referees who manage matches and make critical decisions under pressure.

To show appreciation, clubs are presenting referees with small gifts. MSV’71 distributed symbolic yellow and red cards to its referees, while S.K.N.W.K. has been providing tokens of appreciation to officials during both home and away matches. The clubs emphasized the importance of showing respect to referees, noting that the role is increasingly difficult due to declining levels of respect in the sport.

Both organizations are also using the occasion to encourage new volunteers to join their ranks, stating that experience is not required and that guidance will be provided to those interested in officiating.
