Dutch footballer detained at Valencia airport over alleged assault

Spanish National Police detained a 20-year-old Dutch footballer at Manises-Valencia Airport just before he could board a flight to Amsterdam. The individual, identified by the initials L. Z., is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in Valencia.

The incident reportedly began at a nightclub near the City of Arts and Sciences, where the victim and her friends met the suspect and his companions. According to the victim's testimony, while the initial sexual encounter was consensual, the suspect allegedly forced himself upon her after she refused further sexual acts.

Although the suspect was detained following a court order, he was released without precautionary measures after giving his statement and has since returned to the Netherlands.
