Dutch GP organizations challenge NZa tariffs in court

Dutch general practitioner organizations, including the Landelijke Huisartsen Vereniging (LHV), VPH, and DBH, are scheduled to appear before the College van Beroep voor het bedrijfsleven (CBb) on January 19, 2027. The legal challenge concerns the revised tariff decisions made by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).

The medical organizations argue that the revised rates still fail to cover the actual costs of providing primary care. While they noted improvements regarding housing costs in the June 2026 decision, they maintain that other critical issues remain unaddressed. Specifically, the plaintiffs contend that the NZa does not adequately value the responsibilities of practice ownership or account for actual working hours, as the current labor cost calculations are based on a 36-hour work week.
